Lead Coach
LEAD COACH – WILLING 2 NINJA (W2N)
Part-Time | Armstrong, BC
At Willing 2 Ninja (W2N), we help kids build strength, resilience, self-confidence, and friendships through fun, challenging ninja obstacle course training. We are looking for someone to step into a Lead Coach role — someone who can confidently lead a class when needed, maintain a safe and positive environment, and represent W2N well with both kids and families.
This is a part-time position. Most shifts will be worked alongside our Head Coaching team, but applicants should feel comfortable taking the lead when a Head Coach is not on site.
What You’ll Do
As a Lead Coach, your responsibilities will vary depending on who is on site:
When a Head Coach is present:
- Assist in leading groups of kids through class plans
- Demonstrate ninja skills and support kids through obstacles
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and engaged class environment
- Communicate with parents at drop-off and pick-up as needed
- Assist with obstacle setup and take-down
- Take notes on student progress for comment cards and coach feedback
When leading a class independently:
- Run the full class from warm-up to cool-down using provided class plans
- Lead group discussions tied to our Willing 2 Values
- Oversee the safety and flow of the class and facility
- Communicate professionally with parents and pass along important information to the Head Coach or management team
- Create a positive, structured, and encouraging class atmosphere
What We’re Looking For
- Responsible and reliable with strong attendance and communication
- Comfortable leading groups of children independently
- Calm, confident, and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with both children and parents
- Organized and able to follow class plans independently
- Strong awareness of safety and willingness to take initiative when needed
- Physically capable of demonstrating obstacles, climbing, hanging, standing for extended periods, and lifting 25 lbs unassisted
Experience and Qualifications
Previous experience is an asset, but we care most about finding the right fit for our team and culture. The following experience would be considered a strong asset:
- Coaching, teaching, or working with children
- Athletic, fitness, or sports backgrounds
- Experience coaching or leading youth recreation programs
- Camp leadership or youth program experience
- Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain it)
We are open to applicants aged 16 and older, provided they demonstrate maturity, reliability, and the ability to commit to the schedule. Applicants aged 18+ are preferred.
Schedule
This is a part-time position. Typical hours may include:
- Weekday afternoons and evenings (approximately 3:00 PM – 7:15 PM, Monday to Thursday)
- Summer camp shifts running in the mornings and afternoons (schedule to be confirmed)
- Occasional Fridays and Saturdays for drop-ins, birthday parties, or special events
We are looking to bring someone on in late May 2026, with training time built in before the summer season and transition into fall programming.
Compensation
$20.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level, with opportunities for wage increases as responsibilities and experience grow.
Why W2N?
- Be part of a program where you can see the impact you make in kids’ confidence and growth
- Work within a small, supportive team where your contributions matter
- Opportunities to take on additional responsibility and leadership over time
- Active work environment with casual athletic dress
Our Culture
At W2N, we believe movement can help kids grow far beyond the obstacles themselves. We aim to create an environment where kids learn how to face challenges, support one another, and keep showing up even when things feel hard.
Our Willing 2 Values guide both our classes and our team culture:
Willing 2 be brave
Willing 2 face failure
Willing 2 be kind
Willing 2 do your best
Willing 2 have fun
